Together since their first weekly matinee in 2008 at Elephant & Castle, dad and son duo Bruce & Jay MacKinnon have been the regular Saturday band at Durty Nelly’s since 2011, with hundreds of songs in their repertoire. “I like playing ’Ramble On’ by Led Zeppelin. Dad likes ’One Toke Over the Line’ by Brewer & Shipley, back from the K-Tel days,” says Jay of their favourites. In 2008, they jokingly played “Business Time” by New Zealand’s Flight of the Conchords, “but now we can’t get out of the bar without playing it.” Rock on.
