Norman Nahas will never reveal the secret to his amazing donairs. “We’ve been keeping that one for decades.” The Quinpool Road pizza and donair shop has been in business since 1973, “It’s the grandfather donair location.” He says KOD is often imitated but never duplicated. “The meat differentiates us from anyone else, the recipe is the original one, and I think people take the sauce for granted. People from away just can’t get it.” Hopefully soon, spiced meat and sweet sauce in a hot fresh pita will be HRM’s official food.
