“My poetry book and I are humbled by the recognition,” says gold winner and longtime Coast pal Shannon Webb-Campbell from her new home in St. John’s. “Still No Word charts the mercurial waters of the Atlantic, and uncovers the internal and external landscapes surrounding my ancestral Mi’kmaq territory. It’s a poetic distillation of a self within a self.” It’s been a busy year for Webb-Campbell, who also launched a play, a short film and a teaching career at Memorial University. She continues to work in those disciplines as well as the one you love her best for, poetry. “Halifax, it’s an honour to be read by you. You were the place I started from, a city that offered up space, both in my head and my heart, to find myself as poet,” she says. “You’ll always echo within.”
