While studying kinesiology at St. FX, Matt Benvie started to reconsider his plans to become a gym teacher. After getting inspired by some courses on personal training, and being encouraged by a couple of trusted profs, Evolve Fitness was born in 2009. Now it brings personal training and bootcamps to 350 folks who are keen to be whipped into shape (OK, not whipped, but encouraged and supported). “I think Evolve is such a special place because of how much Mitch and I, plus the employees we hire, value relationships and hard work,” says Benvie of what makes his north end biz a winner. “We just love being at the gym all day, hanging out with and getting to know all kinds of fun and interesting people.”
