Two Best ofs in two years of being a councillor isn’t a bad start to Waye Mason’s hopefully lengthy political career. The downtown Halifax councillor and former Pop Explosion head honcho took a close race in the last election, and has been hard at work ever since. He’s brought in participatory budgeting for his district, helped push forward the initiative to save the Khyber from sale and is often a voice of reason in what can be a forest-for-the-trees city hall. Fellow newbie councillor Matt Whitman took the bronze, but is first place in sports jackets.
