Gold Winner Megan Leslie

Silver Winner Kevin Kindred

Bronze Winner Rene Ross

After a stint with Dalhousie Legal Aid, Megan Leslie stole our Hali hearts with her impressive storming of Parliament Hill---in her first year as our elected federal rep, her fellow MPs as well named her rookie of the year. Last year, Leslie won re-election easily, and now serves as the official opposition’s environment critic; she would have had a reasonable shot in the NDP leadership race, but declined to run despite wide support. The silver this year goes to Kevin Kindred, a lawyer who represented the Atheist Bus Campaign and the bronze to Rene Ross, who works tirelessly protecting the rights of sex workers.
