A biography of Eddie Carvery, the last resident of Africville, the peninsular village bulldozed in the late ‘60s to make room for the McKay Bridge onramp, its residents uprooted and moved elsewhere. Tatrie, a novelist and freelance journalist, tells the story of Carvery’s life as an activist and community organizer, the man who refuses to leave the site of his demolished home, refuses to give up his fight for justice and recognition.
