For those who don’t know, Attica on Barrington Street has four floors of great furniture and home accessories. Ground Floor: “The main showroom with the most diversified product mix, lighting kitchen and bath,” says co-owner Susanne Saul. The second floor has “furniture, more rugs and carpets,” the third is Attica’s kid’s furniture and EQ3, “Canada’s answer to Ikea, but a little more upscale. Modern, affordable design.” The fourth is more furniture, accessories, an art gallery for co-owner Christopher Joyce’s paintings, and an office for interior designers. Saul is also on the board of the Downtown Business Association, and is disappointed that 99 percent of the taxes from Barrington Street businesses are spent elsewhere. “Any success we’ve had is despite the city council,” she says.
