Best Playwright

Daniel MacIvor

Anyone who was in the audience this July during Daniel MacIvor’s one-man production of Cul-de-sac---his play about how a single violent act can affect a group of people---left with goosebumps. It wasn’t just that MacIvor was convincing while performing nine (nine!) characters, it was the strength, compassion and humour of the writing, which may be why you named Mr. MacIvor our Best Playwright. Now, the bad news is that MacIvor has decided to retire from acting. The good news is that he’s decided to move back to Halifax, which can only mean wonderful things for theatre in the city.

1st runner-up Johnathan Stewart

2nd runner-up Anthony Black
