Nothing, not even a brain tumour, can keep our returning queen from performing for her fans. Diagnosed in August, followed by many rounds of chemo and radiation, LaRude says, “Physically I feel great. It’s been a slow upward climb but my pain is completely under control and the other symptoms have all receded to manageable levels.” During her healing hiatus, she had the opportunity to watch the weekly Reflections drag show, but this time as a judge. “I had never seen it from that perspective. Although I really enjoyed watching, I knew right then that I would have to come back the next week as I missed it too much to stay away.” Just in time for LaRude’s 25-year anniversary show, where there will be many, many reasons to celebrate.
