Dawn Sloane completes the elusive Best of Halifax hat-trick, winning best city councillor for the third year in a row. She’s so good in fact, she’s running out of ways to describe her own awesomeness. “I guess it’s because I’m down to earth, but I said that last year, so I can’t say that again,” says Sloane. The councillor for District 12 most recently celebrated a decision to halt development on a 17-storey skyscraper that had been proposed for the Midtown Tavern location. “Downtown is everyone’s concern,” Sloane says, “and I guess I do my best to make sure that what’s done in the downtown area is done properly and for the right reasons.”
