Never mind ol’ robin redbreast or the giggling sweet heads of crocus and daffodil emerging from the earth. Around here the true harbinger of better weather and spiritual renewal is the return of the Bud the Spud truck to its rightful place outside the Spring Garden Library. French fries are possibly the most loved food on the planet. In Belgium they’re downed with mayo. In Egypt they’re put into sandwiches. In Halifax, from Bud the Spud, they’re hand cut and fried to perfection in the roadside truck. Even the strictest of hypertensives will want to cut themselves a little slack and salt these babies up.
