Best Breakfast

Cora’s Breakfast and Lunch, 5523 Spring Garden, 490-2672

Even though the big hippie magic marker menu offers lots of fruit options, the specialty here is a plethora of good carbs, meaning the ones with oil and sugar that make you smack your lips—waffles and 14 kinds of crepes (including the crepeomlette, a crepe stuffed with an egg concoction, covered in hollandaise). Or go all high protein and have eggs and bacon. Cora’s is big but homey—the syrup and cream are already on the table when you sit down. Plus the decor features big still lifes of fruit on wide wallpaper borders, plaid seats and Cora’s logo of a humble smiley sun. Voters in Best of Food are supposed to specify a specific location when they vote for a chain. There’s now a second Cora’s location open but we figured it’s so new it didn’t effect the results, so Cora’s got all her votes put in one basket.

Runner-up: Ardmore Tea Room, 6499 Quinpool, 423-7523
