Maybe it’s because it’s hand-pumped, cask conditioned, authentic English ale. Or maybe it’s because, as one patron noted, “I can drink like seven pints of this stuff and not have a hangover the next day.” Whatever the case, Granite Brewery ranks as tops in your book for best microbrew. Granite owner/brewmaster Kevin Keith has been hard at it since 1985 and has obviously developed a loyal following as well as a lineup of some pretty fine beers, including Peculiar, which is now available in Nova Scotia liquor stores.
