Best Brunch

Casino Nova Scotia Hotel, 1919 Upper Water, 421-1700

Old habits die hard. Although the hotel formerly known as the Sheraton is now called the Casino Nova Scotia, it’s still home to your favourite brunch. One look at the dessert bar is all I needed to be convinced; an amazing array of cakes, tortes, pies and you name it. For the more traditional brunch-goers, there’s omelette stations, and excellent representation in the pig products department, not to mention oodles of breakfast pastries. More substantial fare in the form of carvery items, pastas and hot entrees are also available. And if the food’s not enough, go for the windows—every table has a harbour view.

Runner-up: Smitty’s Family Restaurant, 1472 Tower, 429-1148
