Kansas has always divided readers in Halifax. Some love her candid and uncompromising style while the city’s more conservative readers are less fond of her work, to put it mildly. Things came to head earlier this year, with a plagiarism accusation leading to her dismissal at the Daily News. The Coast stood behind her and so have readers, who have crowned her the best writer in town.
