Best Drummer

Benn Ross

Halifax percussion slut Benn Ross has been around the block—he’s played with more than 50 bands in the last 11 years, and loves a good Caesar. So you know he’s got to be good. Oh wait, you already do. That’s why you voted this amazing musician Best Drummer. Right now, Ross plays weekly gigs with Big Fish, the Dale Letcher Band and the Seth Von Handorf Trio. He pounds the skins for Little Miss Moffat, experimental jazz outfit Parabola and taps the tambourine for The Wilderbeats, a kid’s music ensemble. He’s also finishing up recording the second disc with the band that is his primary project, Heavy Meadows. “It’s due out next month,” he says. “And there’s lots of drumming on it.” Sold.

Police reports say it probably wasn’t a local who laced the clam chowder with PCP on the set of Titanic. Whodunit?
