The Art of Being Single

Or 21 Characteristics Needed to Date Laurie Jones

Another one-act, one-woman play written and performed by Laurie Jones who takes time out of her daily life as a lawyer to share The Art of Being Single. Jones is hilarious as she recalls her dating disasters and gives the audience her list characteristics needed in guys she can be with, including No. 1, “Must be a good-excellent kisser.” Not too long and consistently funny, Jones ends the play on a high note with her booty-strip-tease dance, which she points out, isn’t that sexy at all. But played up in front of an audience, it’s great comedy. Former types of men she tells the audience to avoid include: the ones not emotionally prepared to deal with life, the guy who asks to be reminded that you asked him out, and the men that say all of their exes are crazy. As someone who has been the “one before the one,” this play is relatable both for men and women, and the material begs for a sequel at next year’s Fringe. Seen on Sept. 10
