The Light That Guides You Home
(Warner)
Sounds of birds chirping are the sweet greeting to Jim Cuddy's new solo album, his first in eight years. Even the damn birds want to work with one of Canada's best-known songwriters: Sarah Harmer appeared on his first solo album, All in Time, and this time around Cuddy swings out with Kathleen Edwards on the delightful day-after "Married Again," and musically canoodles with Oh Susanna on "Falling" and "What she said." A crossover mix of radio-friendly country and rock—you can count on Cuddy for consistency—Blue Rodeo fans shouldn't be disappointed by the absence of Greg Keelor, who has his own solo album due out in early October.
