The Extra Curricular Art Club's (photographers Christina Arsenault, Krista Comeau, Peter Dubee and Laura Mills) debut exhibit explores "family" in diverse ways. Dubee's black-and-white staged photographs are framed with narratives that outline unconventional and sometimes dysfunctional relationships, a dark side of family that connects with Arsenault's juxtaposition between the relationship of sisters and the men in her life through reactionary gestures. Comeau's associative collection house glimpses of a life—a skinned knee, a note on the floor—moments that powerfully move those images into memory. But Mills' series about her dad's search for his own estranged father, William Mills is the standout. Each photo of her father has him posing in front of a house, clothed as the profession of the William Mills (and possible father figure) that lived there and in each, we are left to contemplate the dejection and confusion that comes from piecing together a past that it seems he can never be sure of.
