"Nobody move, this is perfect," Danny Michel warns in the opener of Tales from the Invisible Man. He's talking about a girl, but his deft pop-folk record comes close too. Some songs, with their layered vocals, sound overproduced but only because Michel's ballads are so beautiful—smart lyrics sung with the passion of a troubadour and just a hint of a hangover. If Michel and John K. Samson made a record together, the combination of wit and sensivity would set hearts aching nationwide. |
