The theme of A Little Something for Everybody is the plight of the “big girl”, explored in songs from Broadway musicals and original scenes and monologues. Written and performed by local acting/singing powerhouses Kristi Anderson and Ann Doyle, this short, humorous show makes some important points about the negative effects of society’s pressure on women to be thin. The show explores things like the horror of swim suit shopping, the terror of the first time revealing one’s naked self to a lover, or that seductive allure of a chocolate bar. However, don’t write this cabaret off as “for women only “. After a scary, funny scene called “Barbie and the Little Girl”, a pre-teen boy in the audience turned to his mom and exclaimed, “This is awesome!”. And I just want to say, while neither actor is rail thin, it’s safe to say that the biggest thing about these two women is their glorious voices.
