Friday June 12

Motherhood Fredericton rock trio Motherhood slide into the city on their well-oiled Maritime Machine tour. Their latest cassette release Problems manages to perfect the balance of mournful lyrics and joyful tunes with a sound reminiscent of laughing your way through a break-up. Menz & Mollyz Bar, 2182 Gottingen Street, 8pm

Cheap Gas, American Eric, Born in the Harvest, Once Gentlemen Cheap Gas will rock you until your tank is empty. The high-octane cover band doesn't discriminate between old and new rock, seamlessly transitioning between the tunes of Gogol Bordello, Leonard Cohen and Kings of Leon. When they slow the set down to cover The Avett Brothers, it's like a punch in the gut that also kind of feels good. Gus' Pub, 2605 Agricola Street, $6, 10pm

Surveillance w/Moon, Elk Lodge, Club Soda Surveillance gets me. Their second demo Stressed and Depressed includes tracks that speak straight to the heart with titles like "Fucked Up and Naked" and "Irrational Depression." Catch them at Radstorm with Moon, Elk Lodge and Club Soda, but leave your vices at home - this show is dry. Radstorm, 6050 Almon Street, $5/PWYC, 8pm

Saturday June 13

Garrison Backlot Bash w/USS, The Town Heroes, Glory Glory, Like A Motorcycle Garrison's Backlot Bash is the best way to set the tone for your summer. Celebrating the expansion of the brewery, Garrison is bringing in food trucks, giving tours of the new brewery and (of course) whetting whistles with fresh beer and cider. The big draw, though, is the killer live music lineup. Superstar Toronto dance duo USS headline, with local support from multi-ECMA winners The Town Heroes, indie pop outfit Glory Glory and rough and tumble punk four-piece Like A Motorcycle. Garrison Brewing Company, 1149 Marginal Road, $30-$65, 5-10:30pm

Ostrea Lake EP Release w/Arsoniste, Lydia Mainville Celebrate with Ostrea Lake as they release their third EP, Rippling Waters. The first single "When The Storm Is Near" is a beautiful, seven-minute gut-wrencher that's absolutely captivating in its quiet and cozy passion. 1313 Hollis, 1313 Hollis Street, $7, 7pm

Tom Terrell Album Release w/Gianna Lauren, Matthew Hornell folk singer-songwriter Tom Terrell drops his debut self-titled album with a plethora of special guests. Matt Myer, Sasha Muise, Ben Ross, Andrew Sneddon, Adam Pye, Gianna Lauren and Matthew Hornell will all be on hand to harmonize and energize. The Company House, 2202 Gottingen Street, $10, 8pm

Sunday June 14

Steve Maloney and the Wandering Kind w/Rube and Rake Recently awarded MusicNL's Rising Star of the Year, Steve Maloney and the Wandering Kind are touring some of that sweet Newfoundland superstardom across the country. The four-piece band boasts a sound so full, you'd swear there are more of 'em. The Company House, 2202 Gottingen Street, 8pm
