With a half moon hovered above the tent, a lingering fog and cool breeze, Barber had Halifax in the palm of her hand. From an ethereal rendition of “Oh My My,” jazzed up by her stellar band to dedicating “Be My Man” to married couple, who at 55 years together, slow danced side stage, she knows her audience.
It doesn't matter if you fell for Oh Heart or took a risk and grew smitten with Chances, she's hard not to love. From a girl who came to Halifax for romance, she found music instead. A move to Vancouver saw her career and heart soar. This lady of song is not only sweet, she's sassy. Halifax held onto her every movement, motion and note, especially “Tell Me,” “If It Weren't For Loving You,” and “Took Me By Surprise,” off her latest Mischievous Moon. We'd take her back in a heartbeat if only we could steal her away from husband CBC host Grant Lawrence. Lucky chap.
