Is that an Ann Pocket you're wearing, or...

NSCAD jewellery grad shows her new collection at Anna Leonowens

Last December at the NSCAD jewellery show in Seeds Gallery, I fell in love with Ann Pocket’s silver necklace, decked out with a moose, campfire and marshmallows, and a little silver match at the clasp. It comes in a wooden box, where you can prop up the pendant, light a tealight and a summer campfire scene is cast on the wall.

Next week, Pocket’s solo show opens on June 15 at Anna Leonowens Gallery, running until the 20th. “Connectivity & Calm Density is a collection of jewellery that relates to connections,” says the artist, “connections to ourselves, to our environment and ultimately to each other.” She’s created this collection with every material imaginable, including: “wood, beer cans, photos, constructions signs, layered newspaper, mirrored acrylic, plastic, polyurethane tubing, steel ball bearings, fibre optics, sterling silver...” using “just about every technique I learned while at NSCAD to assemble them.”
