Marquee closure confirmed

Posted on Wed, Nov 19, 2008 at 1:00 PM

Though owner Victor Syperek denied it to Shoptalk two weeks back, he confirmed to CBC today what everyone already knew: The Marquee Club is toast as of the new year. "I just constantly lost so much money, it got to the point that if I carried on in business it would jeopardize everything else I have," he told CBC News.

Yes, this has happened before, but never with such a strong undercurrent of legitimate-sounding rumour attached: the building will be torn down, and a -- WAIT FOR IT --

-- condo will go in its place. Of course.

Here's some even worse news: we've heard the final show will be headlined by The Trews. See you at the second-last show, then.
