The Halifax Pop Explosion has pulled a new pack of bands out of its pocket to add to a line-up that already includes GZA, Stephen Harper’s favourite band Holy Fuck and an Inbreds reunion. Announced this week were Memphis garage punk Jay Reatard, beloved singer-songwriter Josh Ritter—at St.Matt’s, where the shushers will be out in full force—The Sun Parlour Players, buzz man Sebastian Grainger & The Mountains (ex of Death from Above 1979), Basia Bulat (another Polaris Prize nominee, she was last in town opening for Wintersleep), Toronto scenester Laura Barrett, fest fave Hot Springs, The Diableros, Will Currie & The Country French and Ghettosocks.
