It’s been awhile since we’ve heard a whisper from the non-profit Paradise Cinema and the Paradise Sisters Film Society. These days, the idea of a rep movie theatre only lives on Fantasy Island. For those original Paradise members who donated money towards the dream way back when, there’s a closed meeting Tuesday, August 5, from 7-10pm at the Terry Symonds Auditorium, Halifax North Memorial Public Library (2285 Gottingen). The remaining board members will discuss current financials and means to wind the society up, as well as a proposal from the Atlantic Film Festival Association for the transfer of all financial assets (a donation of equipment to AFCOOP is unconfirmed). The meeting is for “paid members” only, but anyone interested in the outcome can meet in the lobby.
