Sweet Treevenge

Posted on Tue, Jul 8, 2008 at 2:47 PM

For some people, the holidays are a perfect hate storm, chased down with After Eight mints and mulled guilt. Jason Eisener feels your pain and responded with Treevenge, a short film about the life of a Christmas tree (“prepare to have your Yuletides yacked!”), shot while waiting for production of the full-length Hobo With a Shotgun film to get underway. Co-written by Eisener and Rob Cotterill, and starring the familiar (and bloody) faces of Jonathan Torrens, Sarah Dunsworth, Lex Gigeroff, Glenn Mathews and Kristin Slaney, the 15-minute short premiered last week at Montreal’s Fantasia genre film festival.

This ain’t no Charlie Brown Christmas---the trees are pissed and judging from the production photos, they’re sick of being woodchip victims of the season. Who knew that grannie’s old tree topper could make such a fine throwing star?
