Genetic Angry | Music | Halifax, Nova Scotia | THE COAST

Genetic Angry are a crazy-good punk band from Truro and they’re making a rare appearance in Halifax to play a free show at CD Heaven on Saturday. Joining them is CI (who are also planning an upcoming tour for April), Eyesore, Envision and Cross. GA is promoting their soon-to-be-released, artwork-free, two-song 7” record (on Sewercide Records and recorded by Charles Austin). “We are playing a few shows around the Maritimes to ‘promote’ our record although won’t be out in time for the shows, which is a bummer,” says Luke Mumford (guitar). There’s good news though: Genetic Angry will tour Newfoundland, where they’ll likely make some rabid new fans for life, record or no. Mumford, Tim Totten (vocals), Evan Mumford (drums) and Tyler Fleck (bass) all hail from Truro, AKA, Town of the Small but Rad Music Scene. “Truro is pretty awesome for a small town. Lately it’s been a big mixture of punk and more indie-ish music kind of stuff, which is great,” says Mumford. “We usually like playing Halifax and we would play there all the time if we got asked more!” I’m sure that won’t be a problem after Saturday---I’m just sayin’. While admission to the in-store show is free, they encourage fans to bring something to throw in the hat, as Newfoundland is very far away.
