The Art Metropole Collection

Posted By on Thu, Jan 10, 2008 at 9:13 AM

Last week we reported that the MSVU Gallery show For Example opened on January 25. Somehow a two tumbled into the date—it actually opened on the fifth. So don't wait, especially now that Top 100: The Art Metropole Collection, highlighting 160 works acquired by the National Gallery from the artist-run centre, opens on Saturday, January 12.

There's a long connected history between Metropole and NSCAD-affiliated artists. Check out works from Eleanor Antin, David Askevold, Joseph Beuys, Dara Birnbaum, Kate Craig, General Idea, George Maciunas, N.E. Thing and Rosemary Trockel.

Watch the listings for upcoming talks with catalogue author Peggy Gale and participating artist Iain Baxter. Also, don't forget about the small show of Baxter works at the AGNS, on right now—several prints and two non-functioning, static-running televisions, painted over with charming landscapes.
