When Barrington Street’s book and spirituality shop, Little Mysteries, closed last August, it was more than a loss for the street. “There was an entire community without anything like it,” says Pamela McInnis, owner of Put Me On (1526 Queen Street) and a one-time Little Mysteries employee. “There’s a very spiritual community here, and there was nothing for that group.”
That’s what inspired her to open the Neighbourhood Witch General Store (upstairs at 1526 Queen Street)—a perfect companion to fellow tenant Broom Closet Tarot—set to open September 9. The boutique, which she calls a “small space with a big heart” will be a source for used books and cards, handmade jewellery, incense, essential oils, herbs and bath products. And though it'll be a quaint space, McInnis will be able to order from an online database of over 7,000 witch-related items. So, just because you don't see it, doesn't mean it's not out there. She also plans to add workshops and classes to Neighbourhood Witch's offerings “A lot of groups have temples, or churches,” says McInnis. “For us it’s our witchy shops”
