Hair comes change

Posted By on Wed, Sep 26, 2012 at 5:48 PM

Halifax’s newest salon, Eco Chic Hair Studio, is on the fringe of something great. The ecologically-conscious salon is boasting a line of organic hair care systems to dye for. Using only naturally-derived, non-toxic, ammonia- and paraben-free hair colouring and styling products, this is where to go if you want your hair care to gel with your local, organic, fair trade, grain-fed values. Located in Solo Hair’s old location at 174 Brenton Street (406-8804), Eco Chic Hair Studio opened August 20 and has three stylists and one aesthetician on staff so far. Nancy MacDonald, owner and stylist tells us that after working out of her home for six years, she was looking to grow: “the other areas of my life were just becoming cleaner, so when I found a product I could stand behind, I knew I had to put it out there,” she says. Offering a full range of aesthetic services, MacDonald is ahead of the curve, as eco-hair care is still a niche in Halifax, but she says she thinks there’s definitely a demand for it. MacDonald is is in the process of giving the salon a facelift, but hopes to be in good condition by November to host the salon’s grand opening.
