Pamaya Organics opens in Bedford

Health and beauty product supplier with a serious eco-philosophy

Pamaya Organics (1360 Bedford Highway, 832-5664) recently opened in Bedford, a local health and beauty product manufacturer and retailer. "We are a completely sustainable company," explains marketing manager Melinda Dowe in an email, "specializing in organic skin care products that are all made by the founder, Pamela McKay." McKay developed her first organic product line in 2004 while living in the Middle East. She left Kuwait in December 2009 with her two sons to settle here. All her products are designed, tested and made in small batches on site at the Pamaya location and packaged in recyclable or decomposable wrapping. The boutique is run on Bullfrog Power. McKay "will also soon be calculating the carbon footprint at the shop and planting enough trees to compensate for the emissions," says Dowe.
