Fabrics, clothes and gift people
Tammachat Natural Textiles (902-624-0427, tammachat.com) are hosting their annual here-come-the-holidays
Fibre Fair: Fashion & Gifts at the Universalist Unitarian Church (5500 Inglis Street) on Saturday, November 12, from 10am–5pm.
There'll be plenty of gift ideas, from sweatshop-free clothing, jackets, tops and wrap pants, organic silk scarves, cotton scarves and shawls, bags of all sorts, home textiles: tablecloths, placemats and napkins, handstitched cushion covers and raw fabric.
The material sold is created by rural women artisans in Thailand and Laos. Tammachat will donate 10 percent of all its November show sales to flood relief in Thailand to help women.
And for every piece you buy, Tammachat gives a child in Laos their very first book, in partnership with Big Brother Mouse (bigbrothermouse.com).
