Sock It To Ya (429-7625) is now open in
Spring Garden Place, having moved from their former location at the corner of Spring Garden and Birmingham, which is now a pile of rubble. (See a forthcoming Reality Bites post on the future of said corner, which also once housed
Annie’s Place Cafe, now found up at 1592b Queen Street, and
Furs & Leathers by Seymour, which has closed.)
The specialty sock store, now found at SGP in the former location of
Madrigals---next to
All Dressed Up and
Fed Ex Kinkos---is run by
Rachel Budovitch and has been for 24 years. “I don’t know what my secret is,” she says of her success. “I’ve been fortunate to have a great location, the right product and the great staff. If you love what you’re doing and love your product then you can convey that to your customers.”
That product goes from tights, leggings and socks, all the way to sleepwear, underwear and swimwear, too. And you’ll find all that and more at the new location, which Budovitch describes as “much larger, much nicer. We’re able to carry more selection.” That will include a new line of dresses, and maybe more in the future. Hours are Mon-Wed 9:30am-6pm, Thurs-Fri 9:30am-9pm, Saturday 9:30am-5:30pm and Sun 12-5pm.
