With new (and expanded) bicycle shops, spa services and Korean restaurants, Quinpool has been really hopping lately. To add to that, the long running bookstore Outside The Lines: Books for Critical Minds (6265 Quinpool Road, 422-3544) is now open on Sundays. Hours from Monday through Friday are 10:30am-7pm, Saturday 10:30am-5pm and Sunday 12-5pm. Owner Bob Haywood says that expected in store this week is the third in Swedish novelist Stieg Larsson’s popular thriller series, The Girl Who Kicked The Hornet’s Nest and you’ll also find the usual political and philosophical texts as well as plenty of books by local authors. | Also worth noting, Trinity Jewellers (6226 Quinpool Road, 431-7900) is celebrating seven years in business this month and offering a promotion with yours truly, The Coast. Every customer visiting the Quinpool store until May 15 who mentions “The Coast Promotion” will receive a free pair of locally made sterling silver gemstone earrings. | Sadly, it’s not all hopping. China Classic (6311 Quinpool Road) has a disconnected phone and the doors haven’t opened in awhile. This bodes ill for the Chinese food joint.
