Tunstile holiday show and sale

This weekend Turnstile Pottery Cooperative (2733 Agricola) raises a glass of cider with holiday cheer for the annual holiday show and sale. Be sure to pop on by to Turnstile November 22 and 23 anytime between 10am and 5pm for some great gift ideas.

"We have our show and sale twice a year, once before Christmas and once in the spring," says Tania Sures, Turnstile member. "It's an opportunity to open our doors and show our work and sell our wares too---pottery and ceramic work that is produced by our members. There will be pottery on display and for sale, but also cider and snacks for people who want to stay around and visit with us."

As a cooperative, Turnstile is owned and operated by its members (presently there are nine members), who use the studio space at their leisure. The members share chores related to running the business and repairing equipment, and also critique each other's work. Eight years into it, Turnstile has provided studio space for more than 40 artists in various stages of their ceramic careers.

"We are open daily from one to five o'clock," says Sures. "So people can come by, take a look around, see what we're up to. They can buy pottery if they wish, usually during these times we are working away."

Turnstile hosts weekly informal drop-in programs for the general public, Thursdays 7:30-9pm. Tuesdays is sculpture night with a live model (illustrators are welcomed), 8-9pm.
