Hounds Around Town

Posted on Fri, Aug 29, 2008 at 11:36 AM

It was over five years ago that local entrepreneur Angela Granchelli changed career gears. With nearly two decades of retail management and IT work, she opted to try her hand at something that suited her skills, lifestyle and personality –in July 2003 shelaunched **Hounds Around Town**, Nova Scotia's first online doggy boutique.

"The company started out as a dog walking service, and a vision to bring hard to find dog products to the local market," says Granchelli. "Almost immediately it was apparent that the market was global, and dog walking was quickly phased out to accommodate the demands of the internet business."

Thanks to the World Wide Web Hounds Around Town has global clientele, though Granchelli herself is based in Eastern Passage. Take a browse through the website to find some of the cutest dog toys (snugga wubba, hurleys, water wubba), durable dog collars, training guides, booster car seats, luxury crate mattress, rain coats and winter dog boots.

Jennifer from Ontario wrote a rather convincing testimonial regarding the FURminator, a solution for those pet owners allergic to the ones they love most. "I've recently moved in with my boyfriend Jamie, who, bless his allergic heart, loves my two cats Reiley and Bauer as if they were his own (and as if he didn't have itchy eyes because of them). My mom, a dedicated Hounds Around Town customer, bought us a FURminator. I was brushing my cats regularly and thought it was silly of her to buy us another brush –but mother knows best. When Jamie and I tried the FURminator for the first time we ended up fighting over who got to brush the cats because we were so amazed at the amount offur coming off their coats." Customers post pictures of their happy pets decked out in their new Hounds Around Town digs. Check it out at www.houndsaroundtown.com or call 1-888-DOG-SITE.
