In A Box Gifts

Posted By on Thu, Apr 3, 2008 at 1:38 PM

The holidays are coming, which means you’ll soon have to assemble a pile of tasteful, thoughtful gifts to give to your mailperson, your cousin Steve and every lawyer who works for you at your firm. But panic not: new shop In A Box Gifts (1468 Dresden Row) is here to help. The shop aims “to assist people in leaving with a gift that they’re very, very proud to give,” says store co-owner Lezlie Oler. To that end, the shop is stuffed with a diverse selection of products, making it almost like “a little department store.” “It’s not just giftware and it’s not just personal items and it isn’t just décor…it’s a whole variety of really edgy, modern, funky things.” These range from custom art pieces to vases, cashmere scarves, and salt cellars (like a sugar bowl, for your salt!) Oler and co-owner Pamela Piers originally started the business as a side project, called It’s a Wrap, which they operated out of their own homes---sporadically inviting people via mailing list to stop by and check out the new items that they’d found. The mailing list kept growing, until the pair realized that they had enough clients to sustain a year-round business. The store’s open from 10am to 6pm Tuesday to Friday and 10am to 5pm on Saturday. If none of those days/times works with your schedule, Monday‘s set aside for customized appointments. The shop’s also helping to expand its work with corporations and businesses. “Getting stuff with corporate logos all over it is not something that people really relish,” says Oler. “We would like to help companies develop way to have their image put on items---but still have the items to be…stylish and useful for the recipient.” Hear that, CEOs? Can the mugs and cheesy hats. Give the shop a call at 423-8031.
