Morris East supper club

Posted By on Thu, Jan 24, 2008 at 2:58 PM

If you've been digging the wood-fired gourmet pizza that Morris East (5212 Morris) has been churning out, Morris East owner Jennie Dobbs has got a new club for you---the restaurant's supper club. (It's like other clubs, but with more supper.) The goal of the supper club is to allow interested diners to chow down on a non-pizza meal that's been cooked in the restaurant's wood-fired oven. Dobbs is taking the supper club for its first test run on January 27. "If people like the idea," and "it works out for everyone," her hope is that the supper club will become a regular event, held on the last Sunday of each month. "We're trying to showcase local Nova Scotia products, using a wood-fired oven," says Dobbs. "There's nothing better, in the middle of the Canadian winter, than to sit in a wood-fired oven restaurant and eat...a hearty, wintry, roast-y meal." The first supper club evening will consist of two different sittings, one at 4pm and one at 6pm (the first is all filled up, but the second still has spots available). Don't expect to just drop by willy-nilly, though---the sittings are reservation-only. The three-course meal will set you back $40 per person, tax and tip included. That price doesn't include drink, but supper-club goers are being offered a BYOB option (corkage for the evening is free). So, what's the meal we're signing up for? Tantalizingly, Dobbs shares: "We're going to be cooking beef, and whatever else we find at the Farmers' Market the day before." Reservations can be made by email at dine@morriseast.com.
