Cafe Wanda updates | Shoptalk | Halifax, Nova Scotia | THE COAST

Listen up, Bayers Lake vegetarians: Cafe Wanda (8 Oland Crescent) is under new ownership, and has unveiled a pile of changes, including an expanded, vegetarian-friendly menu. New owner Jean Ziade and new manager Marie Salame, Ziade’s wife, took over the cafe from its original owner, Wanda Tkaczuk, in November. “We found there was a lot of potential to expand it,” says Salame. The couple extended Cafe Wanda’s hours and added a bunch of new, homemade selections to the cafe’s menu, like pizza, lasagna, vegetarian eats (including hummus, new salads and spinach-and-cheese pie) and Lebanese dishes (tabbouleh, falafel, kibbi, Lebanese breads, desserts and baklava). The cafe’s famous soups are still available, too. Sick of serving subs at business seminars? The cafe also caters, and its 28-seat dining room is available to be booked for private functions. Plus, seniors and Bayers Lake Business Park employees get a ten percent discount on the restaurant’s already-reasonable prices. Give the restaurant a call at 450-6295. Then give grandma a call and talk her into treating you.
