Supplement King

Posted By on Thu, Dec 6, 2007 at 10:00 AM

The first physical location of internet-based supplement provider Supplement King opened last November in Scotia Square. Just over a year later, the city is home to a whopping three Supplement King locations. (One opened a few months ago inside Anytime Fitness on Kearney Lake Road; the newest opened a month ago in the Bedford Place Mall.) Proud Halifax-based owner Roger King wants to see the chain he started continue to grow, and hopes to open a Dartmouth location in early 2008. "We're looking at opportunities outside of Halifax as well," he adds. The company started in 2005 as a phone-order business, delivering protein supplements, multivitamins and more right to your door—a service that Supplement King still offers within the HRM. The secret to the King's success? "We keep our costs low by keeping our locations small. But we have many of them, so that offsets our small size on each individual store," says King. Supplement King also price-matches. "If we find a lower retail price, we match, and then take off an additional 10 percent," King promises. Plus, there's a yummy Supplement King milkshake line available through Darrell's (5576 Fenwick; 1865 Hollis)—featuring a crazily tasty white-chocolate shake. Contact the King at 1-888-908-KING.
