Just when you thought Best of Food was, let's be real here, the very best of all food surveys ever, we've gone ahead and made some changes to make it even greater. So before you start squawking about the good old days, allow us to explain.

This year you'll notice that selected categories will feature a list of nominees. We've done this to help you out a little bit. We recognize that in doing this we've possibly left out a shining person, place or dish, but you'll notice that in every single category we've left a "Your Answer" space open. This is for you to share with us anyone/place/thing missing from our list. And if you feel strongly about whatever you put in this space, by all means tell your friends vote accordingly. The more votes a certain restaurant or chef gets, the more likely it'll show up on that nominee list next year.

How did we come up with these nominees, you ask? By digging into the results past surveys and our location database, taking suggestions from a trusty team of incredibly wise food bloggers and restaurant professionals, putting out a poll to gather suggestions from you, the public, and deliberating, a lot. It's our first year trying this so any suggestions and comments are welcome, and you can direct those to me at

As always we thank you for your interest because really, this survey's all about you and your good taste.

Survey Asks

Should council use the yet-to-be-finalized Centre Plan when debating new developments?

  • No, it doesn’t exist yet and is still likely to change
  • Yes, thousands of hours of work and consultation have gone into what’s already assembled
  • Maybe, it really depends on what’s being proposed by the developer
  • I don’t know what the Centre Plan is and do not wish to participate in this poll
