To all the lemmings that believe that the oil sands are bad and evil, do dip your head in some cold water! I am sick and tire of hearing the sob story about the 100+ ducks that died in the tailings pond, do you have any idea how ducks and other animals die from oil tanker spills? You can't have it both ways! If the oil doesn't come from Canada, then it has to come to us from overseas.
Furthermore, I am sick and tire about all the fucking whining about the toxic tailings pond... are you mentally challenged or naive? This isn't the first time Canadian industry has used a tailings pond. I suggest you put away that ebook on Bambi, and pull out a text book that explains the important and vital role that tailings pond plays. They aren't something that we need to get rid of, they are something that we need to keep the countryside safer.
I wish more industries, and municipalities would use tailings ponds. There are far too many of them that dump their waste directly into our rivers.
Lastly, where do you get off rambling about how much pollution the oilsands are producing each day? The last time that I looked out my window, I saw a gazillion cars. We aren't on higher moral ground than the oilsands.
Fuck off with your 'drug addict chastizing the drug dealer' routine. I'm not buying it.
Even if we shut down the oilsands and send many fine hard working maritimers back to the same unemployment lines that us locals are already struggling with, the world doesn't miraculously turn into a non polluting mecca.
We will still use, need, apreciate, and hate our motorvehicles. —I Bicycle, too, But this is Atlantic Canada, I Need a Heater and a Cab for the Rain and Winter

Last night, I stayed at the bar right until closing and got a little tanked. I planned ahead and left my car at home, so when I saw the police in the parking lot checking us out, I smiled, waved, and mentioned that I won't be driving anywhere.
I only have about a 600m walk to get home, this same cop car cruised past me 6 times. He must have been too broke for donuts or something because I was minding my own business and just walking home.
Anyway, on the 5th and 6th drive by, I realized that this is getting to be a little insulting. WTF? Does he think I'm going to go rob or mug someone? It's 2:30am, there's no one on the streets but me.
So, on the 7th pass, I ran over to a traffic sign and pretended to be pounding the crap out of it. I figured the cop would get my point and leave me alone.
Pluck you, cop! You picked me up and dragged me down to the drunk tank. I didn't deserve this! You have an attitude problem, mister. You should have just minded your own business. —Slept on a Lumpy Bed

A week ago, my beloved cat went missing. Since he comes home every night, I was puzzled when one night turned into three, then four. I contacted all local animal shelters, the police, Kijiji and made posters. After one week, I see my lovely friend posted on the internet for $100 minimum "donation". Yea right! Upon contacting this woman who claims to be a cat rescuer, I am told that cats should not go outside, I'm a horrible cat owner for letting him do so, and a donation would be appreciated! Apparently she'd caught him because her friend who lives down the street was feeding him. Of course he's going to wander down the street if somebody is giving him treats everyday! Get your facts straight before trapping and abducting a scared kitty, two doors down from its house next time. —How's This for a Donation?

We can debate whether crime rates are going up or down, nevertheless it's important to send a message to the general public that serious crimes, hurting people, won't be tolerated. I think that is something we can all agree with.
If that is the intention of the Conservative's Omnibus bill currently before parliament however, it isn't clear to me.
Why would someone growing six marijuana plants get more time in jail than someone who has raped a child? Seriously?
Is that supposed to show how important our children are to this conservative government? If so their priorities are seriously out of line.
Why aren’t we focusing instead on crimes in which there is actual demonstrated harm inflicted on people?
It seems to me that the majority of Canadians have voted for a 1984 inspired police state regime, not a “tough on crime” agenda.
The astounding arrogance and ignorance portrayed by Federal conservatives seems to preclude reasoned, fact based debate on these important issues.
Every last Federal conservative MP should be ashamed of themselves. Their blatant disregard for children by placing growing a plant higher on the offense scale than raping a child is disgusting and disturbing. —A Canadian

To the douchbags who decided it would be a good idea to pick up a Coast paper box, carry it around the corner and throw it at my bike: grow the fuck up! Thankfully you only scratched it but seriously, whatever you thought you were doing, stop fucking with other people's possessions, you lame, immature, desperate-for-your-drunk-peers' approval children. —Sick of Drunk Fuckwads

Dear Halifax Police Force, I was just witness to the most disgusting abuse of power by police officers I have ever seen in my life. Before I go on I must say that I am not one to challenge authority and always feel like police strive to protect citizens and their enshrined rights... until now.
Two police officers approached a young man who was waiting on Pizza Corner for his friend and instantly began accosting him for "being drunk in public", I must reiterate that this man was standing with two of his friends minding his business not bothering anyone. These two officers then put him in handcuffs, forced him to the ground and refused to give up their names, badge numbers, sergeant names, etc. Two police cars arrived on the scene and promptly took away this man for "being drunk in public" aka standing on the street. Obviously upset, I called the HRM Police non-emergency hotline to voice my complaints and was told that a sergeant would return my call and would deal with it himself.
The sergeant did call me back, which I was very appreciative of and asked me to tell him what had happened. When I had finished I was told that the HRM Police force reserve the right to apprehend anyone that they feel is causing a "public nuisance" when I further explained that this poor guy was merely waiting for his friend to get a poutine I was told (very sternly, and aggressively) that the police officers acted correctly, and that my phone call was wasted.
I have lost all faith in the Halifax Regional Police after dealing with them this evening. Not only did these two police officers blatantly abuse their power by forcing this individual to the ground and into handcuffs on a whim, and then brought him into custody, but then, when I exercised my right to lodge a formal complaint against such abuses of power I was chastised for it.
It is a sad, sad day when a citizen looses faith in the police force and an even sadder day when the police don't care about it. —Shocked and Appalled

To the rancid bitch who dumped me a few months after she graduated from university. We spent 2 years together. During that time, I was the one working while we were together so that you could focus on your studies. I helped you along financially. How could I have been so blind. You dumped my ass saying this wouldn't work out. Now I hear you're dating someone else... some asshole who also went to university. You knew university wasn't for me and I was happy with my sales job. Was dating a retail dude such a huge embarrassment for you? Or was it that I would never make the kind of money you're now raking in? You superficial fuck. I hope you both enjoy your pursuit of the picket-fence, lake-front dream home with two cars, two kids, and two dogs dream life. Fuck you. —Ma11Ra7

To the dildo who was turning right onto Spring Garden via Robie on Monday, fuck you. You began honking at me even though I had been given clearance to cross the street and had the right of way. I also had a headache, which you must have known, because who honks that much anyways? I hope you were drunk, crashed your fucking Mazda into a wall badly injuring yourself, and lost your licence, forcing you to walk in this city for the rest of your miserable, pathetic life. —Nazztea da Pedestrian

To those that do not understand the common curtesy associated with elevators---wait your goddamn turn!! I realize that you may not be aware of this because you are obviously oblivious, but perhaps you are just rude. There may not exist lines where you come from, but they exist here. Basically what you do is try not be a dick and rush towards the elevator when it opens in front of everyone who has been waiting longer than you. And to the not-so-sly asswad that pretends to admire the painting close to the elevator in my building just to suddenly jump on the opportunity to get in as soon as it opens, I will put serious thought into smashing that frame over your head next time so you can permanently enjoy looking at that cheap ass painting no one else gives a fuck about! —You Wouldn't Like Me When I'm Angry

To the bus driver who was 20 minutes late two days in a row on a bus that just came into service and the driver was smelling like pot, did you think no one would notice that you smelled like pot and you took too long of a break? Didn't the safety of the passengers on the bus cross your mind? I hope you get fired because I like to get home alive and on time. —skelitor666
