Concert damage to the Common

Once again a concert trashes the Common, and once again city staffer Peter Bigelow says the crews are out working their turf magic and everything will be honky dory... by spring. "That's why we have concerts in the fall, when the Commons isn't typically in use," he says. (Hey, I just report these things.) Bigelow blames the heavy rain in the days before the show. So, can we expect such damage every time there's a concert? "If it rains," he says.

Here's what the Common looks like, post-Urban:

Bigelow blames the rain for the mess, but I've found the real culprit. This little guy was set up to deliver drinking water to concert goers. Unfortunately, there was no way to turn it off; I took this picture Thursday, so presumably the water was running the entire weekend:
