Sending my warmest love and admiration to the Korean restaurant downstairs from my work on Granville—who had to close without a goodbye. I hope you are well. I loved your food, I loved your hospitality, and most of all, I love the lady who always welcomed me and gave me big smiles whenever I saw you. Best of luck to you and your family. Miss you already. — The Japanese Girl Upstairs

I was in line behind you to see that Miyazaki film at the Oxford while you were talking yourself out of buying an ice cream bar, and I bought you that damn bar. I just needed to see someone enjoy the little things in life. You asked to sit with me but I said no. I didn't tell you it was because my father was in the hospital and I didn't want a stranger to see me cry. He was fine, but when he went back last week I thought of you, and wondered whether you're enjoying this brief candle.

Once upon a time, there was a sweet little ticker tape that ran through the entire print edition of The Coast. It was situated at the bottom (or the top?) of each page. I can't recall if there was a specific focus for the ticker, how often I even read it all the way through or why I have had this thought so many times.

To the workers of the shop on Barrington, to the two ladies with two daughters watching the parade, to my friends who I play D&D with and to the dear friend who drove me home at around 1am: I hope the cupcakes/cake were yummy!

To the group of people in front of the library who wanted cupcakes, and to the mother and her daughter at the bus terminal: I AM SO SORRY IF I SEEMED LOOPY AND JUST SMILED AND WAS TALKING GIBBERISH. I had been out in the heat all day and regrettably didn't have much to drink since my mind was set on delivering cupcakes and waiting till 6pm to bus it out of Halifax. So all the hugs to everyone and a big SHOUT OUT AND HUG to those who were cleaning up the streets after the parade. <3 <3 <3

I think about you all the time. I know you’re still here with us and increasingly I believe and understand that we’re all connected. Lately I’ve been wondering if you have already learned all the secrets of the universe by now though. Maybe you have or maybe you realized that you already knew. Maybe it takes time or maybe we don't understand time all that well.

Friends forever. —old spruce girl

I still long for you, almost everyday. I'm still losing my mind here. I’m still foolishly waiting for you. I know the world looks at you like you are a present for them, but I want you all to myself. If you ever want to come back, I'll wait for you like the stupid girl I am. —Coffee Lover

I fell for you hard and fast; the sparkle in your eyes lit my face a glow every time I saw you. I never told you that I thought you were the sexiest man I ever met, and that watching you chop the limbs off a tree just about sent me into overdrive. Your hands were lovely and they felt amazing on me. I will never forget the way you knew just what to do with me. Most of all I never told you how I loved spending time with you, and looked forward to each moment I got with you, or that I loved you for that matter. Dear god, did I love you. I wasn't looking for superman, I was looking for a guy just like you...rugged, sexy, funny and loving. Thank you for all the little things you did for me. I hope you are well and truly loved. —Black Rose

For more than two years now you have been the one who lights my fire within, my shoulder to lean on, my ear to listen. The adventures we have taken are the memories that I keep safe. For everything you have shown and done for me, I THANK YOU! But, now it is time for us to go our separate ways. I wish you all the best; you will forever be in my heart. I love you now and always! —Goodbye my friend
