To the Half Marathon 2:25 Pace Bunny

Posted By on Fri, Jun 14, 2019 at 2:55 PM

thumbs-up.jpg
Thanks to the Memorial Cup, Bluenose Marathon Weekend was three weeks later than usual. I am not used to running in the heat so I adjusted my pace accordingly. I still wanted to finish strong. We held hands and crossed the Finish Line together, even though I was completing the 15K and not the Half! Slow race for me, awesomeness from you.

Good Samaritans still exist

Posted By on Mon, May 27, 2019 at 2:40 PM

I lost my wallet and keys in the Walmart parking lot. I was frantic looking everywhere for them. Thank you to the old man who picked them up and gave them to a bus driver. And thank you to the bus driver who took them and drove to my home after his shift to personally return them to me. You guys are the best, whoever you are! I hope you read this and know how much you are appreciated. It's wonderful to know there are honest, caring folks out there. I offer you my heartfelt thanks. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Thank you

Posted By on Mon, Dec 3, 2018 at 12:18 PM

I was just going to pay for something and when I reached for my wallet, it wasn't there! I rushed back to the Halifax Central Library and, lo and behold, someone had found it and turned it in to the front desk. THANK YOU SO MUCH! It's been a rough year and only lately has it begun to turn around, and a lost wallet—and cash—might have put me close to the edge. You are a good person and I hope a lot of positive things happen to you! Hugs!

Gratitude for returning my car key and wallet

Posted By on Mon, Dec 3, 2018 at 12:14 PM

Thank you to the unknown person(s) who found my car keys and wallet with my ID in it in the vicinity of Barrington Street on Sunday, and took the time to return them to my home. I cried with relief and gratitude when my daughter arrived and gave me my keys and wallet, not just the spare key. I was praying for a miracle but at the very best I had hoped to find them at the police station. Very grateful that you went out of your way to return my keys.

To the guys who helped us into the radar station

Posted By on Mon, Nov 26, 2018 at 12:26 PM

Thanks for helping us (me) get my ass in the building. That was not going to happen without you offering to become human stairs and haul my ass up.
And, having a tour guide didn't hurt.

Thank you doctors, nurses and staff

Posted By on Tue, Nov 13, 2018 at 11:45 AM

I never had a chance to properly say thank you to all of the doctors, nurses and staff at the hospital: I was tired and scared and you made me feel safe. I was stressed out from needing emergency surgery a few weeks back. You were kind, friendly, patient and warm. You clearly love what you do and you do it exceptionally well. After surgery, I woke up fine, but broken-hearted that I couldn't give a proper thank you. I hope this reaches you all.

Shout out to m’lady and her noble steed

Posted By on Mon, Nov 5, 2018 at 12:40 PM

Shout out to the woman who, while driving on the Bedford highway Wednesday morning around 8:20am, saw me running to my bus stop and asked if I was going downtown and offered me a drive. I so appreciate the offer as it seemed so genuine and kind. I wanted to say yes, but my instinct to not accept drives from a stranger kicked in and I declined. But, I hope you see this post and know I am thankful for your kindness and generosity this morning.

There are good people out there

Posted By on Tue, Sep 25, 2018 at 11:52 AM

To the customers who called out the old man that was cursing at my co-worker, thank you. Thank you so, so much. I've been in fast food for over 10 years (yeah, it's sad, I know) and today was only the second time in all those years that customers took a stand for us minimum-wage employees being abused.
And there were THREE of you that all spoke up completely on your own! We get more shitty people coming through than you can imagine, screaming at us over stupid shit, and knowing that even just a few of you were willing to speak up on our behalf gives me at least a little bit of my faith in humanity back. Thank you. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Thank you McKay Bridge bike rescuer

Posted By on Tue, Sep 18, 2018 at 12:06 PM

In this world where people are often too busy to stop, you followed us and let us know that our bike fell off our new bike rack on the McKay Bridge. Not only that, you followed us back to the bridge to ensure we got our bike back. You, good sir, are a wonderful human being. We were too much in shock to properly thank you so we hope you see this and know just how grateful we are. Thank you you wonderful man. You made our day!

Should be a Coast Award

Posted By on Mon, Jul 16, 2018 at 11:57 AM

I'd like to nominate my roommate for making the best breakfast sandwiches in the city. She poaches her eggs the same way she poaches my heart with coffee each morning. Except she actually fries them, and they're delicious. —Used to be a vegan

To the angel in the rose-covered leather jacket

Posted By on Mon, May 21, 2018 at 12:00 PM

Thank you for letting me pet your tiny dog while you ordered coffee...just because I said I was sad. Thank you for asking why I was sad. I was unprepared for my own outburst of crying as I said "my best friend just died." Her death was a long time coming (cancer), I just hadn't said it aloud yet and was trying to be tough. Thank you for hugging me tightly. Thank you for saying I would be in your heart. Thank you for being there when I didn't know I needed someone. And thank you for showing me people like you still exist in the world. I'll try and meet your example and be the angel for others, I'll just look less cool doing it. XOX. —Redhead Crying In Coffee

Munch kindness

Posted By on Wed, Mar 14, 2018 at 12:18 PM

My boyfriend and I are broker than we've ever been right now. It is exciting but stressful. We both have well-paying jobs, though things like paperwork and injury have made February and March intensely dry financially. I'm doing everything right on paper and still getting nowhere. I've been selling my things to make a few bucks, and my parents can't even help me anymore. I've bled them dry with my inadequate adulting skills. Welcome to the real world, right? So...When the boyfriend and I found two candy bars in a garden between two busy north end streets, it was a like a sign. The proverbial burning bush, in the form of crispy chocolate-coated candy, that told us, “keep believing in the good.” I hope whoever put them there (they were displayed so nicely) meant for someone to take them (we waited 30 minutes and came back, just in case) and gets this thank you! I've never enjoyed candy more. You have no idea how much impact something so inexpensive has made on these two hearts. —Faith Restored

For taking the time

Posted By on Mon, Feb 5, 2018 at 10:06 AM

Thank you to the considerate and generous person who came out in the cold to the Dartmouth Crossing Cineplex to give away soon-to-be-expired coupons for two movie passes, a popcorn, and two drinks.  I could see myself in your situation thinking, "I should give these away."  But I wouldn't have managed to actually do it, and you did. Your generosity filled our night with magic and synchronicity. Thank you. —Gratefully Yours

Lovely bus driver

Posted By on Thu, Feb 1, 2018 at 12:15 PM

To the female bus driver of the #1: You greeted each passenger as they got on and made small talk with everyone while you had a great big smile on your face, and that was just lovely! Thank you so much for being so chipper and keeping a happy face even while you’re driving in such terrible conditions. Today was such a dreary day, but you managed to brighten it up for me. I wish all bus drivers were like you! I hope keep that bright smile and great attitude all day/week/year. —The Girl With The Bright-coloured Hat

To the guy in the Timmy's drive thru

Posted By on Fri, Jan 19, 2018 at 12:00 PM

Thanks, man. I feel like everyone's been a crazy person on the roads since the snow hit, making anxiety-fuelled lane changes, driving at wildly inappropriate speeds and the like. But this morning I was pretty sure you had arrived at the two-lane drive thru at Robie and Young before me, so I let you go ahead. Then when I got to the window she said you paid for my coffee, and I've had a nice feeling ever since. First of all, I love and really needed a coffee. Also, cash has been pretty tight lately and even something small makes a difference. Thanks, stranger. —The Girl In The White Elantra
