Thank you for joining me on that empty dance-floor over a decade ago. If it wasn't for your sense of adventure, we wouldn't be here today. —French Canadian

On Tuesday afternoon, I was cycling on Main Road in Eastern Passage when you passed me. Just as you came alongside me, your right front tire blew out. Thanks to your skill and experience, I didn't even realize what happened until you were well ahead of me. I know how dangerous blowouts can be, and if you didn't react as quickly as you did you could have veered right into me. Maybe saying you saved my life is a bit over the top, but I sure am grateful that there are drivers like you out there who know exactly what to do in an emergency and stay calm under pressure. Thanks!

You were simply the most toxic person I have ever involved myself with. Every day was a battle. Lots of love, though. I hope you're at least somewhat happy now. But if you could please stop speaking so poorly of someone who only tried to help? I don't expect it to happen—I am aware that you've backed yourself into a corner and feel like you have to defend a story that no one else is arguing. Thanks for the reputation.

Oh! And thanks for cheating. That was a surprise. No wonder you're cowering. Also, I was good in bed. Not you.

Not a Bitch but an apology to the couple riding in Shubie on Saturday afternoon. My daughter wiped out as we met you on a blind corner. I was rude to you and I had no reason to be, nor excuse. I’m sorry. I hope my behaviour didn’t detract from your ride on what was a beautiful day in the park.
—Sincerely

To the guy with the curly hair and glasses who works at one of the NSLC's dope counters: I play the line game trying to get you but I always end up at the other guy's tilt. Such a bummer as you are lovely. I wonder if you're single?

To the shark-suited guitar-playing guy and his amazing entourage on Inglis Street on Bluenose marathon Sunday: thank you! Your singing and dancing gave me a well-needed boost to climb that hill during the marathon. It cheered me up for several kilometres and I still smile just thinking about it! You guys rock!

After a few years away from Halifax, I've only grown to love it even more. I've talked about Halifax so positively and extensively that almost every single one of the friends I've made in Vancouver is dead-set on visiting. The Seaport Market, bike routes in Dartmouth, the Frog Pond, DeeDee's, Trident Coffee, the Hydrostone... People keep asking if I'll miss Vancouver, but how could I when I'm heading back to Halifax?

Thanks for making my day! You were just leaving the breast-screening clinic when you turned to the rest of us waiting, smiled, and proudly exclaimed that it only takes half the time when you only have one breast. Your comment provoked many smiles and chuckles. Clearly you have a great sense of humour in spite of being to hell and back with your own health. I love your attitude. We can all learn something from you!

It's been years since we sat on the bed, eating applesauce hand-in-hand. Then, the other day, you welcomed me home with an apple cider and it was like an ocean of time but also only a drop had passed since that morning.
I love you.
I love you.
I love you.
