Great news story of 2016 instead of depressing stuff (a short story):

On my last day of training at work, December 2nd, one of the managers at work asked to see me in their office. I was kind of freaked out; thinking, oh no, today's the last day of training so I must be being shown the door.

So I went to see this person, and the HRM police had called: they had found my Sony Z1 phone I had lost on the bus going to the airport in June! They had used my ICE (in case of emergency) numbers, had called both my sister and mother, in Ottawa, no less, who both directed them to call my employer.

I was assisted on getting to the police station and back, by work (thanks, you know who) to get my phone. THANKS!

Nary a scratch. I had been using the phone as my laptop and it is working great.

It seems that whenever the HRM police was picking up the lost and found items from Halifax transit, they had just been getting purses and wallets since the summer. On Dec. 1st, they were given a whole bunch of phones, and they plugged them all in to try and get the phones to their rightful owners. THANK YOU HRM POLICE!

So, I imagine there were quite a few others who received early holiday presents as well as me

Happy freakin' Holidays to me, and best wishes for a great 2017!!! –Daniel A.

This odyssey began 31 years ago in a small town in that province east of here. We always seemed to be in different orbits which crossed in different times and places. You're right...we don't know each other any more. I guess that's life. To borrow the lyric..."The things I thought I'd figured out, I have to learn again." You're still the brightest star in my constellation and always will be. I can't explain it, it just is. I hope that our orbits can cross again sometime soon. If not...know you are loved. –That Guy that Helped You with the Meaning of "High Flight" in High School

To the Supergirl walking the dog:
1. you found a batman/wonder woman ring.
2. you let someone know you'd found it.
3. He let me know and
4. Thanks to you it's back on my finger where it belongs.
My batman said: if anyone else had lost their ring in the winter, it would be gone forever... well, clearly he has underestimated our super powers! Thank you Super Girl and your companion Super Dog! —Wonder Woman

To the guy walking up Portland street with two cases of busch ice who called me a goddess.  That is the nicest compliment.  Thank you, sweetie! You made my day. —Awww

To the woman who tried to chat with me while bustling through Bedford on a snowy day: I'm sorry I wasn't more talkative. You had a lovely smile and kind words, but I had a runny nose and was dumped. May your charm grace other public transit takers. —Snotty girl

I am incredibly grateful to the kind gentleman who helped me to my feet on Friday afternoon (at Young and Needham) after my dog pulled me down on the ice. You were extremely considerate and supportive — you stayed with me, walked me down the hill, and made sure I found my way safely home. Thank you! I hope our paths cross again so that I can thank you in person —R

I am a big fan of the voice on the busses. Not because I don't know  were to get off. I like it because it has drastically cut down on the loud talking people having pointless conversations they think everyone wants to hear. Is soon as they start yakking, the voice cuts them off. I love it! —Love the sound of that female robot voice

To the young lady at the Joe Howe Superstore who helped place groceries on the conveyer belt for the woman in the wheelchair, I could see that you made her day and mine too #isawyourkinddeed. I hope Santa has something special for you this year! —Kind Deeds Don't Go Unnoticed
